Phillip W. Lissenden, born on July 14, 1949, in Amityville, NY, passed away on August 17, 2025, in Riverhead, NY. He lived a life marked by dedication to his community and an unwavering commitment to protecting others as a Suffolk County Detective with the Major Crimes unit.
A proud veteran, Phillip served honorably in the Army during the Vietnam War, embodying the values of courage and resilience. His time in service significantly shaped his character and instilled in him a profound sense of duty—a quality that he carried into his professional life as he worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and justice of those around him.
Phillip is survived by his loving family: his daughter Kerry Lewendoski and her husband Paul; his son Michael Lissenden; and his cherished grandchildren, Erin, Zoe, and Jack Lewandowski. He is also survived by his brother Roger Lissenden and his wife Elaine, as well as his sister Joyce Johnson. Their lives are a testament to the love and care Phillip instilled in them, nurturing a close-knit family that will carry on his legacy. He was predeceased by his parents, Harrison and Muriel Lissenden, whose guidance and support laid the foundation for his values and achievements.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitations held at the Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead, NY, on August 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
