Robert Henry Chmielewski, a cherished member of his family and community, passed away on May 13, 2025, in Northport, NY. He was born on March 12, 1947, in Astoria, NY, to the late Henry and Margaret Chmielewski.
Robert dedicated his life to helping others, serving as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor at Saint Charles Hospital. His compassionate nature and commitment to his work made a significant impact in the lives of many, illustrating his belief in the power of recovery and support. A proud Army Veteran, Robert served his country from 1965 to 1968, carrying with him the values of honor and duty throughout his life. His military service was a source of pride and a testament to his character.
He is survived by his beloved siblings: Margaret McDonough, Maryann Reischman, and Billy Chmielewski. Robert also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember him for his kindness and generosity.
Robert's life will be commemorated during an inurnment service at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY, on May 21, 2025, commencing at 12:00 PM.
