Robert Lamar “Phipps” Harris came into this world on January 7, 1965 and left this world peacefully with his daughter and son at his side on May 3, 2025, at Advent Health in Winter Garden, Florida.
Robert lost both of his parents very early in life, but was blessed to be raised by a loving grandmother, Clara Phipps. When his grandmother could no longer care for him, he was turned over to the custody of Little Flower Children Services. At the age of 13, at the request of Clara Phipps, Emma Harris legally adopted Robert and brought him into a loving home.
Robert attended Riverhead High School and later graduated from the National Guard Training Center in Sea Girt, New Jersey and served in the Army National Guard. Robert Married Vanessa Suydam on February 14, 1990. Together they had two children.
Robert loved to eat. His favorite meals were sandwiches. He would make a sandwich out of anything. He was a laidback and funny guy, and was always joking. He was immaculate and meticulous in everything he did, and was a gifted artist. Robert was never happy being settled in one place for very long. He had quite the adventurous spirit. Growing up and until the day he passed away, he was known to many as “Lil Romance.”
Robert is preceded in death by both parents, a treasured grandmother, Clara Phipps and his brother-in-law, Dr. Jesse R. (Bobby) Goodale, III. He is survived by his mother, Emma Harris, his daughter, Venice Harris, two sons; Robert S. Harris and Tristyn Harris, two grandchildren; Ava Alexander and Alden Alexander, Jr., two sisters; Dhonna Goodale and Rev. Cynthia A. Liggon (Michael), one brother, Terrance Harris; some very dear friends, Duane Brown, Danoria Powell, Mark Brandon and Coretta Butts, and a host of relative and friends.
