Rosalie (Giammanco) DeSantis

Jul 1, 1938 — Oct 11, 2026

Rosalie (Giammanco) DeSantis passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2026.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Rosalie grew up with her brother, Anthony. She moved to Long Island where she ultimately raised her family in Dix Hills, New York. She was an exceptional listener, fiercely loyal to her family, and known for having a memory like a steel trap. She remembered even the smallest details and had a special way of making everyone around her feel heard and valued.

Rosalie’s greatest joy was raising her four children with her beloved husband, Dominic, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage. Family was always at the heart of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.

For more than 25 years, Rosalie worked in the payroll department at Western Suffolk BOCES. Her sharp mind and remarkable attention to detail made her especially skilled at finding even the smallest mathematical errors. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling to Aruba and Florida with her husband and brother, Anthony. She also liked to dabble at the casino from time to time.

Rosalie also enjoyed knitting and watching Lifetime movies, but her favorite pastime was talking with her children and grandchildren. She was a woman who always put her family first, never afraid to speak her mind, yet wise enough to know when it was best to not respond. Her honesty, loyalty, quick wit, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Rosalie was predeceased by her parents, Dominic and Josephine Giammanco, and her brother, Anthony Giammanco.

She is survived by her husband, Dominic; her four loving children, Lillian DeSantis of East Northport, Salvatore (Jo) DeSantis of Long Branch, New Jersey, Joann Vassilatos of Middle Island, and Joseph (Noelle) DeSantis of Camillus; as well as six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private. Rosalie will be laid to rest at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.

Rosalie’s legacy will live on through the family she cherished, the memories she created, and the love she gave so generously throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
