Salvatore M. Ferrara, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Rockville Centre, NY. He was 93 years old. Born on November 13, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY, Salvatore lived a life marked by dedication and service, both in his career and to his family.

Salvatore had a distinguished career as a ticket agent for the Long Island Railroad, where he was known for his punctuality and commitment to assisting passengers. He took great pride in his work, and his colleagues often spoke of his warm demeanor and willingness to lend a helping hand.

An accomplished individual, Salvatore earned a bachelor’s degree, a testament to his dedication to education and lifelong learning. He instilled the value of knowledge in his children and grandchildren, encouraging them to pursue their dreams with determination.

He is survived by his two sons, Joseph (Victoria), and Kevin (Maria) Ferrara, who remember him fondly as a loving and supportive father. As a grandfather, he leaves behind five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy to his life and whom he cherished deeply. Salvatore was an adored grandfather to Stephen, Michael, Matthew, Ryan, and Nicholas. He was a cherished great grandfather to Liam, Leonardo, Mason, Haven, and Lexi. Salvatore is also survived by his brother, Benedetto, with whom he shared many memorable moments throughout their lives. Salvatore was predeceased by his beloved wife, the late Mary Joy Ferrara, whose memory he carried in his heart. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Antoinette, whose values he upheld and passed on to his family, his brother, the late Matthew, and his beloved son, the late Matthew (Victoria).

A visitation will be held in Salvatore’s honor at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home, located at 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY. The visitation will take place on February 20, 2026, with the first session beginning at 2:00 PM and concluding at 4:00 PM, followed by a second session from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The following day, Saturday February 21st, 2026, there will be a 10:30 mass at Ss. Cyril & Methodius RCC.

Salvatore M. Ferrara will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his career, and his kindness to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
