A proud High School graduate, Shirley pursued a path that led him to a respected position overseeing operations at the Suffolk County Water Authority, where he contributed significantly to the community's utility services. His professional dedication reflected his deep-rooted values of responsibility and care.
Shirley’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Erma B. Saunders, whose partnership was a source of enduring strength and love. Shirley’s legacy continues through his loving children: daughters Shirley Yvonne (Rev. Jeffrey B.) Saunders, Shanon Stephanie Saunders-Shetty, Erma Yvette Lee, Thelma V. (Allen M. Sr.) Barnes, Starr A. Saunders, and son Reginald C. Saunders. Their lives, enriched by his guidance and support, stand as a tribute to his nurturing spirit.
The family also mourns the passing of Shirley’s daughter, Chreyl B. Grigg, honoring her memory alongside their mother’s.
A visitation to celebrate Shirley C. Saunders' life will be held on May 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Feed My Sheep Missionary Baptist Church, located at 495 Granny Rd., Medford, NY 11763.
