Theresa Handibode

Theresa "Terry" Handibode, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at her home in Lake Grove, NY. Born on March 16, 1936, in the Bronx, NY, she lived a life filled with love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to her community and family.

Terry served as a secretary for St. Frances Cabrini Church in Coram, where she was known for her kindness and dedication to the parishioners. Her time at the church was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her passion for helping others.

Terry was a proud mother to her three sons, Edward, John (who is married to Lynda), and Richard (who is married to Kathy). She also warmly embraced her daughters, Anne Knowd (who is married to Christopher) and Pamela Hill (who is married to Michael). Her legacy continues through her eight cherished grandchildren: Carissa, Emily Knowd, Ryan, Theresa, Tara, Elizabeth, Julianna, and Emily Hughes. Their lives have been touched by her unconditional love and support.

In addition to her immediate family, Terry is remembered fondly by her late brother Jack and his wife Carolyn, both of whom preceded her in death.

Visitation for Theresa will be held on February 12, 2026, at Mangano Family Funeral Home of Middle Island, located at 640 Middle Country Rd, Middle Island, NY, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A mass will be celebrated in her honor on February 13, 2026, at St. Frances Cabrini RC Church, 134 Middle Country Road, Coram, NY, starting at 10:00 AM.

Terry leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and commitment, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
