Thomas Arthur Lyon
Thomas Arthur Lyon, 89, of Coram, New York, passed away on August 28, 2025. He was born on August 13, 1936 in Patchogue, NY, to Gesche Koschara and Frank L. Lyon. He graduated from Port Jefferson High School in 1953 and went on to a fulfilling career starting as a technician for Frank L. Lyon and Sons Ford Dealerships, and then as the owner of Noyl and Harborview Equipment companies. Thomas also honorably served his country for 8 years in the National Guard.
Tom will be remembered as a man of integrity, whose kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His joyful spirit and steadfast devotion to family and community were hallmarks of his life. A lifelong member of the Coram Fire Department, which he considered a second home, exemplified service and dedication. His commitment extended further through his work on the Longwood School Board and many contributions to the greater Brookhaven Township community. Among his greatest joys were family gatherings, where he presided over the backyard grill, taking delight as his grandchildren played happily in the pool.
Thomas Lyon is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, April; his daughters, Dawn Colletti (Dominic) and Tammy Ward (the late Robert); six cherished grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Gesche Lyon, and his brother, Charles Lyon.
Visitation will occur on Friday September 5th, 2025 at Coram Fire Department Headquarters, from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. Prayer service will occur Saturday September 6th at 10am at CFD Headquarters, followed by a memorial fire truck ride to his place of interment at Trinity United Methodist Church.
