Thomas
Welch
Oct 13, 1940 — Apr 26, 2026
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Welch, Sr, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 85.
Born in the Bronx, New York, Thomas built a life centered on faith, family, service, and community. He was the beloved husband of the late Eileen Ann, with whom he shared 60 devoted years of marriage. Together they created a loving family that became the center of his life.
He was a proud and devoted father of five children (Thomas Jr, Jean-Ellen, Winifred, Walter and Mark) cherished grandfather of sixteen, and loving great-grandfather of twenty-five. His guidance, humor, steady presence, and unwavering support will remain a lasting gift to all who knew him.
Thomas graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and later earned his degree from SUNY Farmingdale. He went on to build a respected professional life while remaining deeply involved in his community and church.
A man of profound faith, Thomas was a devoted Christian and dedicated Extraordinary Minister and Communicant at St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Deer Park, New York. He was honored with the Medal of St. Ann for his dedicated service to his parish and dioceses. Later at St. Patrick’s Church in Mount Dora, Florida he was an Usher, Lector and Cantor. His faith was not only something he practiced, but something he lived daily through kindness, generosity, and service to others.
After spending more than 57 years in North Babylon, New York, he retired to Zellwood, Florida, where he continued to embrace community life and friendships with enthusiasm and warmth.
He was also an active Boy Scout troop leader who took pride in mentoring young people and helping shape their character. In his free time, he was an avid golfer and bowler who enjoyed friendly competition, laughter, and camaraderie with family and friends.
Throughout his life, Thomas remained actively engaged in his church, neighborhood, and professional circles. He was known for his strong values, welcoming spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need. His legacy is one of faith, devotion, integrity, and love.
He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
