Veta Rose Walker (nee Masters), born on April 9, 1934, in Port Maria, Jamaica, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025. Veta was a Christian woman of unfaltering strength and compassion, embodying the very essence of love and care that she extended to all those around her. At the age of 9 she and her mother moved to Kingston where she attended the Rosseau Road Primary and Kingston Senior Secondary Schools. She held a high school diploma, which served as a testament to her dedication and perseverance in overcoming life’s challenges. Always being an active member of her church, in her earlier years she performed on the choir.

Veta had one employer, Prosperity Dry Cleaners, with whom she worked from the age of 23 until her retirement at age 60. It was while working at Prosperity that she met a customer Roy Walker in 1960, they got married on June 26, 1963 and three years later the union produced their only child. In 1977 the couple purchased a home in the newly built Waterford community where they resided together until Roy's passing in 1993. Over the years while still residing in Jamaica , Veta regularly visited with her son and his family in the US. In 2019 she decided to permanently reside in the US and became a citizen in 2023.

Veta's nurturing nature was perhaps most evident in her devotion to her family. She found immense joy in her role as a mother and grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her beloved child and grandchildren. Her son, Courtney, daughter-in-law Charmaine and her precious grandchildren, Courtinee, Caris, and Dave will forever remember her warmth, guidance, and the countless memories they shared.

In her life, Veta faced the loss of her parents, the Late Ebenezer Masters and the Late Priscilla Stoddard, who paved the way for her journey. Their legacy lived on through her commitment to family values and her caring disposition, traits she undoubtedly instilled in the generations that followed.

Her infectious spirit and unwavering support have left an indelible mark on the hearts of her loved ones. As they navigate this profound loss, they will carry forth the lessons she imparted and the love she exuded throughout her life. Veta Rose Walker will be fondly remembered for her kindness and the strong bonds she forged with her family, a true matriarch whose impact will resonate for years to come.
