William J. Sheridan

William Sheridan, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home in Yaphank, NY on June 21st, 2023. He was a proud Air Force veteran who served his country with honor from 1946-1949.

He went on to work as carpenter in the Suffolk County Carpenter’s Union Local 1222. William was an Ex-Chief, and Ex-Commissioner  and 78 year member of Yaphank Fire Department.

William was born in Queens, New York on August 11th, 1927 to parents Frank and Alice Sheridan and brother to the late Edythe Davis. From an early age, William’s parents instilled the importance of family and hard work.

Throughout William’s life, he always put his family first. He married the love of his life the late Joan Sheridan and they built a home in Yaphank, NY where they raised there 6 children, James (Franceska), William (Joann), Richard, the Late Bobby, Michael (Gina), and Robin (Robby). He was also a devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.

William enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, camping and spending time upstate with his family.

Most of all he enjoyed sitting on his porch taking a nap.
