William August Stevens, a devoted father, proud Army veteran, and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of commitment, love, and honor. Born on October 5, 1932, in Queens, NY, William's life was marked by service both to his country and his community.
William proudly served his country as an Army veteran, a chapter of his life that exemplified his sense of duty and courage. Following his military service, he continued his commitment to public service as a Nassau County Police Officer, where he upheld the law with integrity and dedication. Later, he retired from the IRS, bringing his steadfast work ethic and attention to detail into the realm of public administration.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion, who passed away in 2022. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and shared strength. William is survived by his cherished children: sons Gary and Regina Stevens, William and Zanhira Stevens, and daughter Lisa and John Bachety. His family tree extends further, flourishing with grandchildren—Christine and Anselmo, Blythe and Anthony, Beau and Gaia, John Wesley, and Adam—who carry forward his spirit and values. The joy of his life was also reflected in his great-grandchildren, Triston, Mason, Sage, Luce, and Remilou, who will remember him as a beacon of warmth and kindness.
